Artist Statement

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.” George Bernard Shaw

My experience as a designer has helped me to see the world in unique ways. I enjoy not only the natural and built environment, but also environments that I create. Having been trained in color, shape and design, I look for those elements when I am photographing.

Photographing in color almost exclusively, I use the beauty and diversity of the world’s palette as a source of inspiration for my images. I strive to discover and reveal hidden nuances and unique combinations to order to capture the unexpected.

I am currently exploring the world of still life to discover how visual clues affect the meaning of what is being seen. For the series "Unorthodox Anatomy," I build sculptures of how I think my spine looked before surgery. In "Prior Pleasures" I photograph childhood books in multiple images to create the impression of reading a book. The series "I Can Only Remember What I Don't Forget" references old photos and memories from the drawers of my Mother.
