Nancy Goodman Lawrence
My highly personal portraits and figurative collages are based on family, friends and self or drawings of the model placed in whimsical settings. Maps are a huge resource for my work, less for their literal representations than the endless possibilities they offer in rendering the geography of the human body and the space it occupies. Recently, I have been exploring the use of the circle as an icon in my collages. My interest in developing a rich and intricate surface is matched by my interest in what lies beneath it. I was educated at UCLA and have exhibited extensively in Los Angeles. My work appears in Collage, Assemblage and Altered Art, by Diane Maurer-Mathison and Masters: Collage, Major Works by Leading Artists, Lark Books. | |
