Imagine a reality where Tikkun (repair) is both an individual and collective value-based practice, guiding every aspect of our lives and the world around us. Imagine how our communities, environments, and relationships would transform if we embraced repair as a continuous practice rooted in empathy and responsibility.

In a moment of collective challenges and uncertainty, this group exhibition re-examines the term Tikkun as a phenomenon of spiritual and physical care, repair, and interconnectedness, grounded in personal and communal action, environmental responsibility, and community engagement. In Jewish culture and tradition, the need for Tikkun extends from interpersonal relationships to broader social and environmental justice.

How do we as Jewish artists actively work towards change in our art practice? What personal action and responsibility towards our community and world do we take? How do we care for each other and our earth?

Jewish artists in Southern California of all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and ages 21 years or older are welcome to submit work, as we aim for the exhibition to reflect the rich diversity within the Jewish art community.

Please use the link below to submit up to three works that relates to the theme by May 7th. On acceptance to the exhibition more information regarding drop off will be sent. Participating artists will be asked to take a shift to sit the gallery, more to come on that and the programming.

Thank you for your interest in our upcoming exhibition. As we work to make this a meaningful and well-organized showcase of Jewish artists, we want to be transparent about the costs associated with producing an exhibition of this scale.

To help cover the expenses of reviewing submissions, curating, and installing the exhibition at Gallery 945 in Chinatown, DTLA, we are introducing a two-part fee structure:

  • A non-refundable donation entry fee of $20 to submit work for consideration. Payment link is provided below and on the submission form.
  • If selected, a participation fee to help cover the costs of installation, promotion, and exhibition management.
We understand that financial considerations can be a factor for some artists. To ensure accessibility, juried artists will have the option to either pay the participation fee directly or engage in fundraising efforts to offset their cost. Additionally, we are actively working to secure external funding to help reduce this financial burden where possible.

As you may know, the Jewish Artists Initiative is a lay-led, volunteer-driven organization, and while our annual dues support our ongoing programming, this exhibition incurs overhead expenses beyond that scope. These fees allow us to bring this opportunity to life in a professional gallery setting, ensuring visibility and impact for participating artists.

We appreciate your support and understanding and look forward to highlighting the incredible work of our community. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
